Get Tellaflow running in about 5 minutes. Here's everything you need to know.
Setup in 4 steps
Download and install Tellaflow
Download the latest release from the releases page. Open the .dmg, drag Tellaflow to Applications. On first launch, allow microphone access when prompted.
Choose and download a model
Open Tellaflow → Settings → Models. Choose a model from the list and click Download. Models are stored locally — this is a one-time download. We recommend Whisper small to start.
Grant Accessibility permission
Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility. Add Tellaflow and enable it. This lets Tellaflow inject transcribed text into any app. Without this, it can't type for you.
Set your hotkey and test it
Open Settings → Hotkey and choose your trigger shortcut. The default is ⌥Space. Click into any text field, press your hotkey, speak, and release. Your words appear.
Which model should you pick?
Start with Whisper small. Switch to larger models if you need more accuracy.

US English speakers who want speed + accuracy
Live Translation requires Whisper. If you want to speak one language and output English, Parakeet won't do it — use Whisper small or larger. The translation mode is built into Whisper's architecture.
