Terms of Service
Written in plain English. No dark patterns. Last updated: April 1, 2026
Acceptance
By downloading or using Tellaflow, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app. That's not a threat — it's just how terms work. We've tried to write them plainly.
What Tellaflow is
Tellaflow is a macOS application that converts speech to text using local AI models. It runs entirely on your device. We provide the app, the model hosting infrastructure, and support. You provide the Mac, the voice, and the microphone.
License
We grant you a free, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Tellaflow on any Mac you own or control. The core application is open source under the MIT License. You may view, fork, and contribute to the source code on GitHub.
You may not: resell Tellaflow as your own product, remove our attribution from the source, or use the Tellaflow name or logo to imply endorsement of a derivative product without our written permission.
Your content
Anything you dictate using Tellaflow is yours. We don't receive it, process it, or have any claim over it. Transcriptions generated by the app belong to you. We have no license to your content because your content never comes to us.
AI model usage
Tellaflow uses Whisper (released by OpenAI under the MIT License) and Parakeet (released by NVIDIA under a permissive license). These models are downloaded to your device and run locally. Their use is governed by their respective licenses, which are included with each model download. We are not affiliated with OpenAI or NVIDIA.
No warranties
Tellaflow is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee that the app will always work perfectly, that transcriptions will always be accurate, or that the app will be available indefinitely. We'll do our best, but we can't make legal promises about software behavior.
Transcription accuracy depends on your microphone, environment, speaking style, and the model you've selected. We do not warrant a specific accuracy level.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tellaflow Inc. is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for Tellaflow in the past 12 months — which, since it's free, is $0. We recognize that's a somewhat absurd clause in a free app, but lawyers insist.
Termination
You may stop using Tellaflow at any time by deleting the app. We may discontinue Tellaflow at some point in the future. If we do, we'll give reasonable notice and ensure the core functionality can be reproduced from the open source code.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Delaware, unless prohibited by applicable law.
Changes
We may update these terms. We'll notify you of material changes via the app and update the date at the top of this page. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
